The Unity Of The Three Secrets Of The Buddha

Insight is the root of all this visible and invisible merit; hence to accomplish both, one must hold on to insight. It is the great science, the source of present nature, future purpose and liberation; hence with devotion from the outset, one must hold on to insight, the great mother

- Nagarjuna

the goal of Buddhist Tantras is to achieve the three secrets of the Buddha or more correctly to unify the secrets i.e. body, speech, and mind in one body called svabhavika kaya. It is stated in the very outset in the passage evam maya srutam.... of the Buddhist tantras. The most profound and the most secret element regarding attainment of the highest, not only to the Vajrayana but also to the Sutra Yana; as for as beliefs of Mahayana is concerned.

Metaphysically Five families which represent form, sensation, and conceptualization, imprint of past actions (samskara) and awareness of phenomena (vijnana) when merged they become three: body, speech, and mind. Through the unity of the body, speech and mind of the Buddha in its completeness and in its utter purity, one attains six supernormal powers of the Buddha. It is this power of the Buddha which has to be sought through the various means, necessary far the well being of the world.

To fulfill a bodhisattva vow that one will resurrect each and every one from the wheel of life and death, the unity of the three secrets are most important since through these, one commands every one and leads them to the path. Secret body is necessary to tame the living beings; secret speech is required for teaching the truth, and secret mind is necessary for knowing all things as they are. According to manifestation of these three elements of the Buddhas one achieves the rank of bodhisattvas.

There are eleven stages of its manifestation of the three secrets of the Buddhas. According to Buddhist tantras Vajrasattva is the supreme Buddha known as Tantrik Buddha in whom three secrets reside in completeness. From the three secrets arises the great reality of the five secrets, the very attribute of the Buddhas: 1-bodhichitta 2-understanding it 3-its realization 4- its non-abandonment 5- the knowledge characterized by attainment often represented by five goddesses in tantras.

These five goddesses are as follows Vajrasattva, ragavajra, vajrakilikil, vajrasmriti, vajrakamesvari respectively though many tantras exclude Vajrasattva and only consider four goddesses. Those bodhisattvas who have generated Bodhichitta to its utmost limit possess the harem of the four queens i.e. goddesses. Mind of enlightenment has above said four qualities symbolically called lovers since they give pleasure.

In tantra practice the three secrets body, speech and mind is brought about in unity and perfection through mudra, mantra and Samadhi. Through the practice of mudra body is transformed in to vajra body, through mantra recitation speech is transformed in to vajra speech and in Samadhi mind is transformed in vajra mind. A Tantrik in his generation stage, intermediate state and completion stage unites these three in a systematic procedure. In these three stages of sadhana he refines the three through generating the emanation body, the enjoyment body and the truth body respectively.

Drive For Show - Balance is Key

The last thing most of us think of when squaring up for our tee shot is balance. Without a doubt, this should be the very first thing on our minds. Without proper balance, all the swing fundamentals in the world will never allow you to hit a straight shot consistently.

The next time your standing on the driving range, try this exercise. Square up to the ball just like you always do. Pay close attention to the distance you are from the ball. Now, how do you feel. Do you feel like your reaching for the ball or maybe you feel like your a little to close. If you notice either of these things your probably not going to be able to make a true balanced swing. Too far from the ball and your gonna try to reach to hit the ball. This is going to set you up for a nasty little outside-in path and an ugly slice. Too close to it and you'll be too inside-out and tend to hook it.

Step away from the ball, pick a blade of grass on the ground and set up to it. Don't focus too much on hitting the blade of grass. Instead, focus on making your swing on plane and keeping perfect balance through your entire swing. Make sure your not leaning into or away from the blade of grass during your swing. Now, take note of the distance your body is from the path the club actually swept across the grass. You might be surprised how far this path is from the grass blade you set up to. If your swing was balanced, this should be the actual distance you should stand from the ball when you tee up. With a lot of practice, this set up position will become ingrained and you will soon have a balanced, consistent swing that will allow you to drive for show.

Life Hacking - Learn From the Nerds How to Get More out of Life

I am a nerd. Ive been one all my life. The good news is that finally, its OK to be a nerd. Cool, even.

It wasnt always cool. Before technology and information took over our economy, nerds were seen as, well, nerds. Uncool by definition.

I was never cool. I wasnt fashionable; I wore Keds sneakers and whatever was on sale in the husky department at JC Penneys. I wasnt the guy youd call to come over and work on your hotrod Camaro. Youd call your cool friend for that. You called me when you needed help writing a book report. Then I was your best friend.

Girls didnt like nerds much back then. I wasnt a big hit with the ladies. When I coerced a lovely woman to marry me 22 years ago, folks were shocked; they still are.

But heres my point: Its cool today to be a nerd, and the nerd subculture has coalesced on a group of Web sites dedicated to something called life hacking.

A technology writer named Danny OBrien created the term life hack after surveying a group of productive geeks on their work methods. O'Brien discovered a pattern among the most productive programmers: The best of them the nerdiest of the nerds all had created odd tricks and shortcuts to get their work done faster or better. O'Brien shared his research in a report called "Life Hacks: Tech Secrets of Overprolific Alpha Geeks." The term life hack spread through the nerd community like a computer virus. Today there are many books, podcasts and websites on the topic. One of the goals of life hacking is to make life simpler. Life Hackers say it helps people to get more done, quickly and efficiently, with simple solutions. Merlin Mann created a blog called 43 Folders, which is one of the most popular life-hacking sites. Mann suggests having everyone stand during meetings so no one will waste time. Another suggestion from Mann is to check emails on a regular schedule rather than reacting immediately to every email that arrives. (A great many life-hacking ideas relate to managing email more effectively.)

The Hipster PDA is another life-hacking idea. Its an alternative to using personal digital assistants, or PDAs, such as Blackberries and Palm Pilots. The Hipster PDA is simply a few index cards held together with a paper clip. Its a system Ive been using for years, since tiring of my Palm Pilot and its annoying stylus, batteries and synchronization hassles. People laugh at my low-tech notecards, but now the top geeks in the country have endorsed my system! My version of the Hipster PDA costs about a penny per notecard, plus 45 cents for a pen. My version is different in one important respect. Many nerds carry multiple index cards clipped together; I carry just one. If my new activities wont fit on one card, that tells me that my life is full and I need to reprioritize. Youll find much more at 43folders.com.

Lifehacker.com is a website that takes a life-hacking approach to saving money. It can tell you how to: have a meal for under $3, extend the life of your laptop battery, and keep cool in the hot weather. It tells you the best days to make major purchases and much more. Its like Hints from Heloise on steroids.

Another site, Lifehack.org, gives daily advice on things such as how to turn around bad experiences and sleep your way to better fitness. It also gives tips for travelers, hints for people who need help beginning conversations (such as nerds), and advice on making the workday more manageable. The website has 101 Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things. Learn how you can use tape to test out nail polish colors, prevent plaster from chipping off walls when hanging pictures, and arrange flowers in a vase.

Most life hackers are focused on speed and how quickly they can finish a task. Life hacking is meant to get things done faster so that you have more time for recreation, not just so that you can get more work done. The key, life hackers say, is learning to squeeze more out of your time.

Im not convinced. After perusing these sites, I find myself still wasting time, but at a much faster pace.

Dieting Pitfalls Part 1: Are You Sabotaging Yourself?

Are you making losing weight harder than it has to be? One of the most important keys to weight loss success is ensuring that you are not standing in your own way. When you eliminate self-sabotaging behaviors, you are free to focus on external challenges and temptations rather than wasting time on self-created issues.

In this article, we will discuss three of the most common physical ways you can sabotage yourself.

Booby trapping your cabinets

One of the most common reasons for diet failures is bringing unhealthy foods into the house. You may bring a package of cookies home and say its for the kids, but admit it: Some of those cookies will probably end up in your mouth. Its best to leave the cookies on the store shelf and not lead yourself into temptation.

Instead, make sure that you are setting yourself up to win in the nutrition arena. Be sure that you have plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and low-fat dairy products in your home. That way, you will reach for food that will satisfy you inside and out when you are hungry rather than go for the foods that just satisfy your tongue.

Creating bottomless food pits

A bottomless food pit is an environment in which a large quantity of unhealthy food is made available to you in one sitting. Examples are buffets, whole pizzas, tubs of buttered popcorn, boxes of cookies, and bags of potato chips.

If you have a hard time controlling your food intake, then you will be more likely to overeat when faced with a bottomless food pit. I remember going to the movies on more than one occasion when I was overweight and sitting down with a tub of buttered popcorn. Id become so engrossed in the movie that I didnt notice the robotic way that I was taking popcorn from the tub and putting it into my mouth. I only became conscious of what I was doing when my hand scraped the bottom of the empty tub.

You want to eat consciously and enjoy the experience. If you do want to enjoy popcorn at the movies, then order the smallest size. If you must have cookies or potato chips, then have the snack size (not the grab bag size, which can contain 2 servings or more).

If you are going to a buffet, be sure to have an apple or other piece of fruit before you leave home. That way, you can decide which items you will have rationally rather than be at the mercy of a ravenous appetite when you get to the buffet!

Sleeping with the enemy

While it is true that some fast food restaurants are offering healthy items on their menus today, most menu items are still either fatty, salty, sugary, or a combination of the three. Be honest: If you go into Burger King and smell the hamburgers and fries, how likely is it that you will order a salad? Again, you dont want to lead yourself into temptation.

However if you must go to a fast food restaurant, then I recommend that you check out the establishments Web site beforehand. Usually, they will post the menu and provide nutritional statistics on the items they offer. You can decide ahead of time what you will have. Then, go to the drive thru to get it. That way, you wont be tempted by the smells of the unhealthy stuff.

The above pitfalls are just a few challenges you will need to handle on your way to achieving your goals. The better you can handle these challenges, the sooner you will enjoy the spoils of victory: A healthier, fitter body.
